Women's Swimmer of the Week
Jessie Godlewski, Eastern Michigan, Junior
Godlewski won the 200-yard butterfly event against both Northwestern University and the University of Illinois, Friday, Oct. 18. The junior swam the event in 2:03.29, which was the top time from all MAC performers according to collegeswimming.com, and was over four seconds faster than the next swimmer in the conference. It also ranks as the 46th fastest time nationally among Division I swimmers. She also won the 200-yard individual medley against Illinois with a time of 2:08.46. The time is good for second in the MAC, missing out on the top spot by only .33 seconds. She also competed in the 200-yard medley relay, which touched in at 1:48.05 and ranks second among MAC teams.
Men's Swimmer of the Week
Krzysztof Gilski, Eastern Michigan, Sophomore
Gilski had a pair of first-place finishes in the butterfly events at EMU’s matchup against Big Ten Conference member Northwestern University, Friday, Oct. 18. The sophomore swam a 50.23 in the 100-yard butterfly, which also ranked as the fastest time of any MAC swimmer according to collegeswimming.com and cracked the top-75 nationally among Division I swimmers. In the 200-yard butterfly, Gilski once again had a top-MAC time of 1:51.79, which was over 2 seconds ahead of the next MAC competitor, and ranked 60th among national competition.
Stephanie LeMire, Miami, Freshman
In her first college competition against Purdue, LeMire won her first individual event, the 100 Breaststroke, with a time of 1:03.92 and then finished second in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:19.79. LeMire was also a member of Miami’s 200 Medley Relay team that finished second. She swam breaststroke with a 29.03 split, the fastest of any other breaststroke swimmers competing in the relay.
