Miami's Bader, Ohio's Accurso Named MAC Scholar Athletes of the Week

Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: October 28- November 3
Miami: Evan Bader (Men’s Swimming & Diving)
Evan Bader  (Breaststroke Specialist, Sophomore, 3.99, Chemical Engineering)
Evan Bader spearheaded the RedHawks to a decisive 174.5-123.5 win at Cleveland State on Saturday. He led the RedHawks with 31 points, winning two individual events, placing in another, and contributing to a relay win. Bader seized wins in the 100 and 200 breaststroke in close races. He swam a time of 57.35 in the 100 breaststroke, out touching the Viking’s swimmer by twelve hundredths of a second. Bader’s time in the 200 breaststroke was four hundredths of a second faster than the next swimmer. He helped the RedHawks kick off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay in a winning time that was four tenths of a second faster than CSU. Bader also earned two points, finishing fourth (1:57.46) in the 200 IM.
 
Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: October 28- November 3
Ohio: Juli Accurso (Cross Country)
Juli Accurso (Senior, 3.882, French/Linguistics (double major))
Accurso further etched her name into the MAC record books Saturday, becoming the first female runner in league history to win the MAC individual cross country title in three-consecutive years. The three-time All-American claimed the 6k title after crossing the finish line in 20:37.46. Her first-place finish marks the third time she has finished in the top-5 of a race this season.
