Bowling Green, Ohio Miami University’s women’s cross country team captured their third Mid-American Conference title with four runners among the top 10 finishers at the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championship.

"We obviously weren't picked to win, and that's what makes it fun," Miami's Head Coach Kelly Phillips said. "They ran really strong the second half of the race which was all part of the plan. You don't have many moments where everyone has a great day, and it all happened today which was fun, and it happened at MACs.

Ohio's Juli Accurso claimed the women's individual title for the third consecutive year with a time of 20.37.46. This is the first time in MAC history that a women has won three consecutive MAC titles but not the first to win three.  Western Michigan's Caroline Mullin won three MAC cross country titles in 1986, 1988, 1989. Eastern Michigan's Victoria Voronko finished in second with a time of 21:07.79, while Miami's Jess Hoover took home the bronze with a time of 21:16.97.
"It was definitely a goal of mine," Ohio's Juli Accurso said. "I thought about two things throughout the entire summer.  The first was winning MAC as a team.  That is what we worked toward every single day.  Unfortunately we had some injuries that came late in the season so we weren't able to accomplish that, but I knew to contribute to the team and reach that goal, I wanted to win because that is what I was capable of.  It's a really great feeling to have accomplished this."
Toledo came in second with 48 points. Central Michigan followed in third place (60 points), while Eastern Michigan followed in fourth place (111 points). Ohio (fifth, 120 points), Bowling Green (sixth, 156 points), Buffalo (seventh, 192 points), Akron (eighth, 217 points), Western Michigan (ninth, 253 points), Kent State (10th, 257 points), Northern Illinois (11th, 271 points) and Ball State (12th, 350 points) rounded out the field.
Miami's Kelly Phillips was named the MAC Women's Coach of the Year. The honor was selected by the leagues head coaches following the race.
NCAA Regional Championships will take place on Nov.15 in Madison, Wis.
