Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: September 31- October 6
Toledo Zac Kerin (Football)
Zac Kerin (Center, Senior, 3.615, Civil Engineering)
Senior center Zac Kerin helped Toledo’s offensive line pave the way for a season-high 360 yards rushing in the Rockets’ 47-20 victory over Western Michigan on Saturday. Kerin also played a key role in the protection of UT’s quarterbacks as UT didn’t allow a sack the entire game. The Rockets were a perfect 4-of-4 in red-zone scoring opportunities, Kerin’s helped senior RB David Fluellen tally a season-high 220 yards rushing and career-high four touchdowns.
 
Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: September 31- October 6
Ohio University Kelly Lamberti (Volleyball)
Kelly Lamberti (Outside hitter, Junior, 3.782, Integrated Mathematics)
Lamberti led Ohio to a 2-0 record against MAC East Division rivals this weekend after posting an impressive 5.0 points/set, 4.1 kills/set and 3.7 digs/set. The Cary, Ill., native also contributed three service aces, five total blocks and hit .286 on the weekend. With her two double-doubles, Lamberti has now notched double-doubles in four of her past five contests. Against Miami on Friday, Lamberti dazzled with a match-high 19 kills to go along with 16 digs, two total blocks (one solo) and a service ace while hitting at .308. Her 21.5 points against the RedHawks marked her best output in conference play this season. In Saturday’s game vs. Bowling Green, Lamberti – the reigning MAC Player of the Year - led Ohio again with 10 kills while adding 10 digs and three total blocks. Her two service aces came on consecutive points in the second set to help Ohio rally from a four-point deficit and ultimately take the frame.
