Northern Illinois Remains Ranked No. 23 In National Polls

The Northern Illinois Huskies remain undefeated at 6-0 this season after a 27-20 win over Akron on Saturday evening at Huskie Stadium.  With the win, Northern Illinois remains ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll.  Next up for the Huskies is a road trip to Mount Pleasant on Saturday, Oct. 19th as Northern Illinois will battle Central Michigan at 3:00 pm ET (ESPN3).

Northern Illinois also extended the nation's longest home winning streak at 23 games and broke MAC record for longest winning streak in its home stadium with its 23rd consecutive Huskie Stadium victory. Northern Illinois last loss at home on Sept. 26, 2009 when Idaho claimed a 34-31 victory over the Huskies. Northern Illinois broke the record it had previously held with Marshall, who won 23 straight home games as a member of the MAC from Sept. 20, 1997 to Oct. 5, 2000.

Also  in the victory, Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch became the 10th player in FBS history to run for more than 3,000 yards and pass for more than 4,000 in his career with 83 rushing yards on 15 carries Saturday. Lynch has 3,039 career rushing and 4,650 career passing yards. Lynch has the fewest career starts (20) of any player to accomplish the 3,000/4,000 mark. The complete list:
