Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: September 2-8
Miami Matt Marol (Cross Country)
Matt Marol (5K, RS Senior, 3.78, Management and Leadership [Entrepreneurship minor]) For the second straight week, Marol was very strong for the RedHawks as he earned overall runner-up honors at the Miami Invitational on Saturday, which was Miami’s lone home meet of the year. He took second overall in a 5K personal-best time of 14:57.6, just two seconds behind race winner Dave Wing, Marol’s teammate from Miami. Their 1-2 finish helped Miami earn runner-up as a team at the meet, which included the unveiling of Miami’s new cross country course. The individual second-place finish was his best ever at a collegiate meet while running against a field of 63 runners, including MAC rival Ohio.
