Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced today the 2013 MAC men’s and women’s cross country preseason polls. The Toledo Rockets women’s team and the Eastern Michigan Eagles men are favorites to win the MAC conference titles. Both are looking to claim their fourth straight MAC Tournament Championship and are each tabbed to finish the top of the MAC during the regular season.
The Rockets women’s team returns all but one runner from 2012, including All-MAC First Team selections Megan Wright, Liz Weiler and Brooke Tullis. Juniors Priscilla Timmons and Mackenzie
Chojnacky, along with seniors Devyn Ramsay and Megan Vogelsong, round out a loaded Rockets team looking to capture their fourth-consecutive MAC title.
In the women’s preseason poll, Miami is picked to finish second, Ohio third, EMU fourth, CMU fifth, and Buffalo sixth. Akron is selected to finish seventh, Bowling Green eighth, Kent State ninth, NIU 10th, WMU 11th, and Ball State 12th.
The Eagles return 13 runners from the 2012 season, including Seniors Nick Petro and Harry Dixon; Juniors Daryl Smith, Ian Hancke, and Warren Witchell; and Sophomore Willy Fink. The squad also welcomes the addition of ten newcomers. With a team that possesses both quality and depth, they look to claim their fourth-consecutive MAC Championship title.
In the men’s preseason poll, Central Michigan’s picked to finish second, Akron third, Miami fourth, Buffalo fifth, Kent State sixth, Ohio seventh, Toledo eighth, and Bowling Green ninth.
