MAC Announces Men’s Golf Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND -- The Mid-American Conference announced its 2012-13 Men's Golf Academic All-MAC team Friday, as voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. A total of six student-athletes were named to the team.
This year's squad is led by Ball State and Kent State, each placing a pair of student-athletes on the team. Tony Lazzara, a Top-20 finisher at the MAC Championship and All-MAC Second teamer Joe Gasser represent the Cardinals. For the Golden Flashes, All-MAC First Team member and Top-5 finisher from the MAC Championship gaining honors was Corey Conners and Top-10 championship finisher, Kyle Kmiecik.    
Rounding out the squad were Michael Lamping of Ohio, a Top-20 finisher and Mike Lancaster of Toledo, a Top-10 finisher at the MAC Championship. 
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
