MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Patrick Elliott, Ball State – Sophomore, Jeffersonville, Ind. (Jeffersonville High School)
Ball State sophomore Patrick Elliott went 2-0 in singles after pulling off the 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 defeat over No. 27 Notre Dame's Michael Moore in non-conference action Monday. He then closed out the week with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Northern Illinois' Max Phillips Saturday helping the Cardinals sweep the Huskies for the 7-0 MAC win. Elliott also paired up with Austin Sansone against the Fighting Irish pulling off the 8-6 defeat over Matt Dooley and Ryan Bandy at the No. 3 position. The doubles win over Notre Dame helped the Cardinals take the point from the Irish. At No. 1 doubles Elliott and Leonard took down Northern Illinois’ Max Phillips and Axel Lagerlof 8-1. Elliott has not lost a singles match since March 17 and leads the team with an overall dual mark of 14-4.
Damien David, Buffalo – Sophomore, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Buffalo sophomore Damien David won both his singles matches as the Bulls swept Western Michigan and Toledo in their MAC opening weekend. David scored a three-set victory over Western Michigan's Ross VanderPloeg, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, to help the Bulls to their first win over the Broncos in Kalamazoo. David is 14-8 in singles play this season, including a 10-4 dual meet mark.
Frederic Cadieux, Northern Illinois – Sophomore, Verdun, Quebec, Canada
Northern Illinois sophomore Frederic Cadieux finished 3-1 on the weekend with two wins in doubles during the Huskies split at Ball State and IPFW. Cadieux and doubles partner Jovan Zeljkovic were the only Huskies who emerged victorious at Ball State, winning at No. 3, 8-6. On Sunday, the Verdun, Quebec native was flawless as he won his singles match at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, and again won at No. 3 doubles with Zeljkovic, 8-3.
