Women’s National Invitation Tournament (Third Round)
Ball State (17-15, 12-4 MAC) at Kansas State (17-17, 5-13 Big 12)
8 PM • Kansas State leads 1-0
• The Ball State women’s basketball team (17-15) advanced to the  final 16 of the WNIT for the  first time in program history under the after posting a 53-48 victory over Northern Iowa (17-17) Sunday in Worthen Arena.  The game came down to the final minute when Ball State took a 49-48 lead over Northern Iowa on a Brittany Carter jumper with 33 seconds to play. The shot gave the Cardinals their first lead of the second half.  Carter then knocked down two from the charity stripe to give Ball State a 51-48 advantage with 14 seconds left in the contest. This is the first time in program history the Cardinals have won back-to-back games in a posteason tournament.

Women’s National Invitation Tournament (Third Round)

• The Falcons have won two WNIT games in the same season for the first time in program history, but this is not BGSU’s first foray into the third round of the tournament ... BG earned a first-round bye in 2009, then downed Syracuse in second-round action to advance to the third round against Indiana.  The 2012-13 season marks the Falcons’ fifth appearance in the WNIT, and the second in as many years ... BGSU has an overall record of 4-4 in the tourney to date ... the Falcons are 4-3 in home games in the WNIT, including a record of 2-1 in the Stroh Center ... BG split four games at venerable Anderson Arena ... and, BGSU now has a 4-3 mark in the WNIT since Jennifer Roos came to Northwest Ohio.

• The Rockets are in the midst of a nine-game home win streak and sport a 15-1 (.938) mark in Savage Arena this season. In four-plus years under head coach Tricia Cullop, UT is 72-9 (.889) on its home court, including 35-6 (.854) against non-league opponents.  The 2012-13 Mid-American Conference regular-season champions advanced to the third round of the season for a third consecutive season with victories against Butler, 63-49, last Thursday and Youngstown State, 61-43, on Saturday.  Sophomore Inma Zanoguera paced the 2011 WNIT champions with a career-high 24 points against the Penguins, drilling a collegiate-tying best three triples.
