Kate Hoops, Toledo

Junior Kate Hoops finished fourth in the individual standings to lead the Rockets to a near record-setting performance at this week’s Ocala Invitational. Hoops, who accumulated a team-high nine birdies over 54 holes, registered a career-best three-over par 219 (71-76-72) and matched her career low with a one-under par 71 in the opening round. Hoops’ play helped UT post a team score of 29-over par 893, one stroke shy of the school record set on two previous occasions. Toledo carded three of its four best rounds of the season during the tourney with scores of 297, 298 and 298, just behind the Rockets’ top round this year of 296.
Jenny Niemiec, Northern Illinois

Jenny Niemiec trimmed 12 strokes off her first round score to shoot a career-low 71 in the final round of the Lady Bison Spring Classic in Las Vegas this past weekend. Niemiec shot a two-round 154 to climb 34 spots up the leaderboard to finish in 15th. Not only was Niemiec’s second round score a personal best, it’s the lowest score recorded by a Huskie since Kim Hunley’s 70 at the 2009 Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational and the fourth lowest scores in NIU history. She helped the Huskies to a top-10 finish in the 13-team field as NIU took sixth in the event.
Kara Brinkmann, Ohio University
Junior, Middletown, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame
Kara had a great tournament for the Bobcats at the 2013 MSU Ocala Invitational this week. The junior shot a career-best score of 225 throughout the three days of competition, finishing first among her teammates and leading the Bobcats to a 13th-place finish. Brinkmann recorded the best single-round score of her career on Sunday, shooting a three-under-par score of 69. This score tied for the third best score recorded in the history of Ohio’s program. Kara ended the first day of the competition in first place and ultimately ended tied for 13th in the field of 82 golfers.
