• Akron will be making its third NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five seasons and the fourth overall in program history (1986, 2009, 2011, 2013). The Zips are the first MAC program to win the regular season and tournament titles in the same season since Kent State in 2008.  The Zips have won 22 of their last 24 games, including the nation’s longest winning streak this season (19 games, Dec. 18-Feb. 27). Senior center Zeke Marshall is the Akron, MAC and NCAA active career blocked shots leader with 364 swats. UA’s senior class is the fourth-straight senior class to appear in the MAC title game in each of their four years at Akron and the second to lead the Zips to two NCAA Tournament appearances (class of 2011). Akron head coach Keith Dambrot and Rams head coach Shaka Smart are very familiar with one another as Smart was an assistant coach for the Zips from 2003-06, including two seasons under Dambrot.
