MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Tomas Stillman, Toledo – Sophomore, Harlingen, Texas
Toledo sophomore Tomas Stillman won two matches at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, leading Toledo to a doubleheader sweep over Dayton and IPFW last Saturday. In the first match, Stillman defeated Dayton’s Aidan Koross 6-3, 6-1 at Toledo Shadow Valley Club in Toledo’s 7-0 shutout win over the Flyers. Stillman came back in the nightcap at IPFW with another straight-set victory over Daniel King (6-4, 6-3). In doubles competition, Stillman teamed up with sophomore Nicky Wong for two wins by the same score of 8-6. The Harlingen, Texas native is now 11-7 from the top singles flight with an active four-match winning streak.
Alexandre Brym, Ball State – Senior
Ball State senior Alexandre Brym won his doubles and singles matches for the Cardinals against Xavier last Sunday. Brym helped Ball State hand the Musketeers only their third loss of the season. The Cardinals defeated Xavier, 4-3. Brym took down Adam Krull in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 position. Brym paired up with Dalton Albertin to defeat Michael Moe and Zach Mueck 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Damien David, Buffalo – Sophomore, Montreal, Quebec
Buffalo sophomore Damien David won both his singles matches in Buffalo’s spring break trip to Boca Raton, Fla. David scored a three-set win over Florida Atlantic’s Will Neuner, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 on Friday in Buffalo’s 4-3 loss to the Owls. Against Lynn, the number three ranked team in Division II, David defeated 28th ranked Alessio Ianozzi in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Frederic Cadieux, Northern Illinois – Sophomore, Verdun, Quebec
Northern Illinois sophomore Frederic Cadieux finished 3-1 last week over spring break, winning all three of his singles matches at No. 2 with his only loss in doubles over the Huskies spring break trip in Florida. During Northern Illinois' trip down South, the Huskies finished 3-1. Cadieux earned his first victory of the weekend versus undefeated Stetson, defeating his opponent, 6-4, 6-2. He won again versus Appalachian State, 6-2, 6-0, and finished his undefeated week against Army, defeating his opponent Caison Best, 6-1, 6-3. Cadieux now sports a 19-3 record overall this season, with a 14-1 register this spring.
