Akron 83, Buffalo 79 Post Game Quotes

Updated 3/14/2013

Jodi Kest (Opening Statement)- “I gotta give a lot of credit to Buffalo.  They’ve played so well this year.  We have the utmost respect for them and their coaching staff and they fought to the very end.  I thought we had no answer for 25 (Kristen) Sharkey.  She made great decisions and phenomenal.  All year we haven’t always played great and we have grinded it out in the end, and found a way today.”
Rachel Tecca- (On Taylor Ruper’s four point play boosting the momentum shift)- “It was definitely a momentum shift.  I got really excited when she put that in.  I think we all got really excited.  We all know that Taylor (Ruper) can shoot the three and really hasn’t been shooting that much as she normally does.  When she made that it was awesome and we were feeling really good after that.”
Hanna Luburgh- (On the energy Buffalo brought in second half)- “ I was surprised that they had so much energy.  We knew that they played yesterday and at the pace that we play I didn’t think they could run with us.”
Jodi Kest- (On Sina King’s performance)- “Sina’s our garbage player.  You look at the stat sheet afterwards and normally she is scoring in double figures and rebounding in double figures.  She works hard. She makes great decisions today.  She’s a worker and she’s been that way since she’s been here. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her.”
Opening Statement ( Coach Felisha Legette-Jack) - "Wow, what a game! Way to represent women’s basketball. I just love the fact I was a part of something that’s special. I’m just so grateful just to be in the midst of these young ladies here. They have transformed me into a greater believer if that could possible. You look at them from the beginning and you see all the wrong when you take a job, but at the end of it all I see what’s so right about Buffalo, I see what’s so right about my players, my AD, our administration, our team and our future is going to be very bright"
Margeaux Gupilan (on general feeling from today) - "I’m very proud of my team, we fought hard, we did the best we could. Akron came out ready to go. We fell short in the first half, however, we picked it up in the second but I think we just ran out of time."
Kristen Sharkey (on general feeling from today) - "I give a lot of credit to Akron, they played a great game. They hit some big shots in the first half and we didn’t play defense that strong in the first half so I think that really killed us coming to the end of the game. But, we fought hard and we left it all out there. That’s why I’m getting a little emotional right now, when just you work really hard and you want to win for your team it’s not the best feeling in the world."
Coach Felisha Legette-Jack (general thoughts after game) - "I’m honored, I’m humbled, I’m excited about our future, I’m excited about what we are going to do next, my energy is off the charts. I just love being a part of women’s basketball and the lessons it teaches our young girls who turn into women before your eyes. They’re going to be the spokespeople of our future and it’s a privilege to be part of their lives."
