Akron Selected Tops In MAC Women’s Tennis Preseason Poll
Cleveland, OH – As conference play will begin later this month, the 2013 preseason poll conducted among the Mid-American Conference women’s tennis coaches the Akron Zips were the choice to capture both the regular season title and the MAC Tournament championship. Last season, Akron earned its second consecutive MAC Women’s Tennis Championship with a 4-3 decision over top-seeded Miami.
Returning First-Team All-MAC selections from last year include Akron sophomore Olga Shkundina, who was also named last year’s Freshman of the Year, Ball State sophomore Courtney Wild and Buffalo junior Tanvi Shah.
Returning Second-Team All-MAC honorees from last year include Akron senior Prang Pantusart, Bowling Green junior Emily Reuland, Eastern Michigan junior Nino Mebuke, Miami sophomore Christiana Raymond
The 2013 tournament is slated for April 26-28 on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
The complete voting totals are as follows with eight head coaches casting votes.
