Women’s Golfer of the Week
Sarah Johnson, Eastern Michigan
Senior, Wixom, Mich.-Walled/Lake Central
Senior Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) was EMU's top finisher at the Red Rocks Invitational with a 150 (76-74) that put her in a six-way tie for sixth place. It marks the second-best 36-hole total of her career, bettered only by a 148 at the Nittany Lion Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, 2011. CSU-Northridge's Clariss Guce won with a 146, UC Riverside's Amelia Ek and Weber State's Kelsey Chugg tied for second with a 147. EMU was in 11th place following the first day at the Red Rocks Invitational, but a 303 second-round score moved the Eagles into a tie for fourth place out of 21 teams to conclude the tournament. EMU's 618 (315-303) total score was only six strokes behind third-place Southern Utah. Toledo won the team event with a 605, followed by Cal State Northridge with a 609.

Men's Golfer of the Week 
Bryce Emory, Northern Illinois
Senior, Aurora, Ill. ,Marmion Academy
Bryce Emory led Northern Illinois to a second-place team finish at the Forest Hills Collegiate in Augusta, Ga., with a fifth-place individual performance. Emory carded an even-par 144 in the 36-hole event, opening with a 73 in the first round before coming back with a one-under 71 in the final 18 holes. Emory’s fifth-place finish was the fourth top-10 of his career and his best finish this season. Emory was one of three Huskies to record top-10 finishes as NIU recorded a 36-hole total of 586, taking second in the 10-team event behind host Augusta State. 
Other Nominees: 
Amy Ruthenberg, Bowling Green 
Senior, East Lansing, Mich. / Okemos
Ruthenberg went 3-0-0 versus Ohio in the Spring Challenge Cup, helping the Falcons defeat the Bobcats by a score of 7-5. Ruthenberg teamed with Lily Bartell to win 1 Up during the best ball format and then joined forces with Patricia Holt to win 4&3 in the alternate shot format. In the final day of competition she won her singles match 3 & 2, helping BGSU to 3.5 of six points on the final day of competition.
Melissa Beurman, Western Michigan 
Junior, Jackson, Mich./Lumen-Christi
Junior Melissa Beurmann registered her career best 36-hole score en route to leading the Western Michigan golf team at the 2013 Red Rocks Invitational. 
Beurmann knocked three strokes off her score from yesterday with three birdies and three less putts (31) to card a final round 2-over par 74, en route to a tie for a 12th place finish.  Her tournament score of 151 is one shot better than her previous 36-hole career
Taylor Pendrith, Kent State 
Junior, Richmond Hill, Ontario
Junior Taylor Pendrith led the No. 24 Kent State men's golf team at the 28th Annual Louisiana Classics by finishing seventh overall in the 84-person field. Pendrith shot a 216 (E) in the 54-hole tournament, shooting rounds of 73-70-73.   He combined for a tournament-high 17 birdies, and helped KSU finish fourth overall. 
Spencer Slade, Eastern Michigan 
Senior, Saline, Mich.-Saline/Savannah State
Eastern Michigan University senior Spencer Slade turned in top-30 showing, placing in a tie for 30th place at the 2013 USF Invitational, March 3-5. The Saline, Mich. native carded a 71 in the final round to finish with a 224 (76-77-71).  On the 7,060 yard, par-72 Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club course, the Eagles finished in a tie for 14th place with a team score of 920 (300-311-309) as North Carolina State University took home the invitational hardware with a 860 (287-280-293).
