Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: February 4 – February 10, 2013
Eastern Michigan University Victoria Voronko (W. Track and Field)
Victoria Voronko (Distance, Sophomore, 3.90, Individualized Studies Program) shattered the school record in the 3,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 9:23.33 at the SPIRE Invitational, Feb. 9. The sophomore surpassed the previous mark of 9:32.61, by over nine seconds, set by Carrie Gould back in 1999.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week’s competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference’s faculty athletic representatives.
