OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University Athletic Director David Sayler announced Monday that he has signed head volleyball coach Carolyn Condit to a four-year contract extension through the 2016-17 season.
"I am pleased to announce an extension for Coach Condit," said Sayler. "We have high expectations for Miami Volleyball and it is our clear expectation to compete for championships going forward."
Condit will be entering her 30th season at Miami in 2013 and boasts a 509-404 record at the helm of the RedHawk program. She is the only coach in any sport to win 500 games for the Red and White. Including her four seasons in charge of Xavier, Condit has 608 career victories. That ranks 14th among active coaches in Division I. She is one of only 10 coaches all-time to coach in more than 1,000 games, while working exclusively in Division I.
"It is not only uplifting but humbling to be granted this extended contract at such a great institution as Miami." said Condit.
The RedHawks have boasted amazing success under Condit's direction. The five-time MAC Coach-of-the-Year has seven NCAA Tournament appearances, five MAC titles and four MAC Player-of-the-Year awards to her credit. Under Condit, 32 athletes have earned a total of 68 All-MAC awards for their play on the court, while 33 athletes have earned a combined 50 All-MAC academic honors for their performance in the classroom. Five of her players have been named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and five have earned induction into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame.
