Women's Basketball Daily (12-09-12)
Bowling Green (5-3, 0-0 MAC) at Northwestern (6-2, 0-0 B1G)
2 PM • Bowling Green trails 2-1
•  The Falcons used a fast-shooting start to the second half to pull away from visiting Butler Wednesday night (Dec. 5) at the Stroh Center ... BGSU, leading by four points at the half, made 6-of-7 shots to begin the second period en route to a 67-47 win ... the Falcons shot 55.6% from the floor in that second half, and had a season-high field-goal percentage of 45.8% for the night.  BGSU has held each of the last two opponents under 50 points ... the Falcons defeated Colorado State, 71-49, on Saturday (Dec. 1) before downing Butler ... the BG defense forced 37 turnovers in the last two games, and allowed the Rams and Bulldogs to shoot a combined 34.3% from the field. 
Morehead State (1-7, 0-0 OVC) at Ohio (2-5, 0-0 MAC)
2 PM • Ohio trails 7-2
•  Ohio’s win over Eastern Kentucky marked the 100th game of senior forward Tina Fisher’s college career. Ashley Fowler (99 games played) and Symone Lyles (96) are both very close to joining Fisher in this elite group.  In their first starts of the season, Erin Bailes and Kiyanna Black had strong outings in the win over Eastern Kentucky. Bailes scored 12 points and pulled down a career-high seven rebounds while Black scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds, and snagged four steals. The start was the first of Black’s career.  Ohio out-rebounded a physical Eastern Kentucky team on Dec. 6. The Bobcats collected 45 rebounds to the Lady Colonels’ 44, marking the first time this season they have out-rebounded their opponents. This was also the first time Ohio had collected 45 rebounds or more since a Dec. 19, 2011 double-overtime win over Xavier.  
Western Kentucky (6-2, 3-0 Sun Belt) at Kent State (1-7, 0-0 MAC)
2 PM • Kent State trails 1-0
•  Kent State earned their first win, and head coach Danielle O’Banion’s first career win, in a 71-62 victory Thursday night (Dec. 6) against Temple. Trisha Krewson had a team and season-high 18 points, including shooting 4-for-6 from three-point range. Barroilhet had a big game, netting 17 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. Beckford and Ashley Evans had 13 and 12 points, respectively. Kent State’s defense played a big role in the win, forcing 19 turnovers which resulted in 28 points for the Flashes.  Western Kentucky brings a 6-3 record to the M.A.C.C. They most recently beat Morehead State 62-38. ALexis Govan leads the team in scoring, averaging 18.8 points. Chastitty Gooch is averaginig double-double with 15.4 points and 10.9 rebounds.
