• Bowling Green opens a five-game homestand Tuesday against Detroit. The Falcons are 2-3 after splitting a pair of games in Moon Township, Pa. for the NIT Season Tip-Off and beat the Titans a year ago in the Stroh Center. BGSU is averaging 5.8 three-pointers made per game so far this year, the most since the 2008-09 team that won a MAC Championship averaged 6.2 per contest. In fact, the Falcons are averaging 7.3 per game in their last three contests and are shooting 36.7 percent from long range during that stretch. Each of Bowling Green’s four seniors have increased their scoring average this year. Combined, A’uston Calhoun, Jordon Crawford, James Erger and Luke Kraus are scoring 41.4 points per game in 2012-13, up from 29.0 points per contest a year ago.

• NIU’s Akeem Springs leads the Huskies in scoring averaging 12.0 points per game. Springs has scored in double figures in each of the last two contests. After grabbing just one rebound in the season opener, Aksel Bolin is averaging 7.7 rebounds per game over the last three games. Freshmen have played 63.6 percent of the minutes this season for NIU; sophomores have added another 19.3 percent of the minutes. Northern Illinois is currently the third-least experienced team in the country (1.55), behind only Arkansas-Little Rock (1.25) and Texas (1.40).
