GENEVA, Ohio - The No. 2 Bowling Green Falcons grabbed a five-set win (21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10) over No. 3 Western Michigan in the second semifinal of the 2012 MAC Volleyball Championship at SPIRE Institute on Saturday.
BGSU overcame a late deficit in set four and then stormed out to a big early lead in the fifth set to claim the victory and earn a date with Northern Illinois in Sunday’s Championship Match.
Paige Penrod (14 kills, 20 digs) and Lindsey Butterfield (15 kills, 15 digs) each recorded double-doubles for the Falcons. Jessica Brown led the Broncos with 22 kills on .429 hitting. Bowling Green totaled 19 blocks in the match.
Bowling Green and No. 4 Northern Illinois will play for the 2012 MAC Championship on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at SPIRE Institute. The match will be televised LIVE on SportsTime Ohio as well as ESPN3.
