East Division Offensive Player of the Week
Dani Reinert, Buffalo
Jr., S, Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursuline
Junior Dani Reinert had one of her best weekends in a UB uniform, coming back to play after suffering a serious ankle injury just two weeks ago. Reinert led the Bulls to a 3-0 sweep of Miami on Saturday evening, where she finished with 40 assists, in just the three-set contest. Reinert also helped the Bulls force five sets at Bowling Green on Friday night, where she dished out 45 assists, while adding three aces from the service line. With Reinert running the offense, UB hit .239 over the weekend.
East Division Defensive Player of the Week
Kelly Svoboda, Buffalo
Jr., L, Cleveland, Ohio/Trinity
Junior libero Kelly Svoboda recorded her fourth and fifth straight matches of 20 digs or more this weekend as she finished with 21 digs in both of UB’s matches. In the close five-set loss at Bowling Green, Svoboda added the rare libero kill as well as six assists and a service ace as the Bulls were unable to upset the Falcons. In the victory at Miami, Svoboda finished with two service aces in addition to her 21 kills. Over the weekend, Svboda did not commit a single reception error on 19 attempts. Svoboda continues lead UB in digs.
West Division Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Iaquaniello, Eastern Michigan
Sr., OH, Plymouth, Mich./Dearborn Divine Childe
Senior outside hitter, Rachel Iaquaniello, led the Eagles to an undefeated weekend, moving Eastern back to the .500 mark in conference play. The Green and White swept both Central Michigan and Kent State this weekend, while Iaquaniello was a standout at the net on the offense. In EMU’s match with CMU, the Plymouth, Mich. native posted 17 kills while holding a .368 attack percentage. She had just three attack errors in the match. Against Kent, she bettered her totals by having just one attack error in the match, while posting 17 kills and a .444 attack percentage. For the weekend she averaged 5.67 kills per set and an overall hitting percentage of .405, with 34 total kills.
West Division Defensive Player of the Week
Jenna Coates, Central Michigan
Jr., L, Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston
Central Michigan junior Jenna Coates had yet another outstanding defensive performance against Mid-American Conference leader Ohio Saturday night, finishing the evening with a match-high 30 digs (6.00 per set), marking her fourth 30-plus dig effort of the season. The three-time MAC West Defensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Year candidate was key in the Chippewas earning their second-straight victory over the Bobcats and their first regular season win over OU since 2002. Coates averaged 5.88 digs over the weekend, recording a match-high 17 digs versus Eastern Michigan Thursday night.
