Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced today the addition of Phil Burwell as Associate Director of Media Relations. Burwell comes back to the MAC after serving as a Media Relations Assistant last season and will act as the primary media contact for volleyball, women’s basketball & softball.
Burwell, a 2010 graduate of Kent State University, focused his studies in Sports Administration, Sports Management and Business Administration. During his time as an undergraduate he worked in the KSU Athletic Communications department where he aided with mainly with football, basketball and volleyball.
Following graduation, Burwell joined the MAC and was the primary contact for a handful of sports and assisted in the management of conference championships. Most recently, Burwell held a position with Eastern Michigan University’s Athletic Media Relations staff and served as Media Relations Assistant/New Media Coordinator.
Burwell also has experience working with the Cleveland Browns (NFL) and Cleveland Gladiators (AFL), as well as with the NCAA in the championship management of the 2011 Men’s Basketball Championship, 2011 Gymnastic Championship and 2012 Women’s Bowling Championship.
