MAC Announces Cross Country Runners Of The Week

MAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Juli Accurso, Junior, Ohio
Casstown, Ohio
Junior Juli Accurso led the Ohio University women's cross country team to a ninth-place finish against several nationally-ranked teams at the 2012 Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster Invitational this past Friday. Accurso was the top Bobcat finisher as she placed third, clocking a time of 13:20.8, finishing just 16 seconds behind Butler's Katie Clark, who won the meet in a time of 13:04.8. Accurso's third-place finish marked the second time this season in which she has placed in the top five in a race this season.

Terefe Ejigu, Senior, Eastern Michigan

1st at University of Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster (19:01.6) Senior Terefe Ejigu took first for the Eagles, Friday, September 21 at the Second Annual University of Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster.  The reigning Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week turned in a 4:46 mile pace to blow the field away and win the individual championship by more than five seconds with a finish of 19:01.6.  Ejigu's first place finish made him the only runner outside the nationally ranked #13 Syracuse Orangemen to finish in the top ten.  The title marks the second consecutive win for the EMU distance runner to open the 2012.

Event: Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster 4K Finish in Event: 11th Finishing Time: 13:33.70 Kaylin Belair posted a 4K time of 13:33.70 at the Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble buster to place 11th among 172 runners in her first race of the season. She helped then-ranked No. 18 Toledo earn a fourth-place finish with 98 points, beating out  two ranked teams in Syracuse and West Virginia. The 2011 All-Mac second team performer consistently finished as UT's second-best runner a year ago.
Jake Kasperski, Toledo
Sophomore, Farmersville, Ohio (Valley View)
Event: Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster Four-mile Finish in Event: 24th Finishing Time: 19:58.30 Jake Kasperski has led the Rockets in each of their two meets in 2012. The sophomore ran a four-mile time of 19:58.30 at the Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster while helping UT to a fourth-place finish over UNC Charlotte and Ohio.
