MOUNT PLEASANT - Freshman forward Danielle Rotheram, who recorded a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Dayton, has been named the College Sports Madness Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the website announced Tuesday.
Rotheram was instrumental in the Chippewas scoring three goals in the final 20 minutes to defeat Dayton, 4-2, in Dayton, Ohio on Friday.
The freshman assisted on the go-ahead header by senior forward Laura Twidle in the 82nd minute. Four minutes later, Rotheram netted a goal of her own on a shot from 15 yards out to the top far corner of the net to give the Chippewas an ultimately insurmountable 4-2 lead and the win.
Both the goal and the assist were the first of her collegiate career.
The Chippewas will travel to Texas for two matches this weekend, beginning with Texas State Friday at 8 p.m.
