CLEVELAND, Ohio – Western Michigan’s Darren Jones was selected as men's soccer Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.

Western Michigan senior defender Darren Jones helped the Broncos improve to 4-0-0 with two victories this past week. The senior captain from Victoria, British Columbia, assisted Yllson Asani's goal in the 73rd minute this past Wednesday in a 3-0 win over IPFW. Jones then came up with the game-winning goal against DePaul, ranked No. 10 in the Great Lakes Region, Saturday on the road, powering home a free kick from 32 yards out. For his performance, Jones was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. Western Michigan is off to a 4-0-0 record in 2012, the team's best start since 2003, when the program won its first six games, and earned a No. 6 ranking in the Great Lakes Regional Poll released yesterday.
ZACH LEMKE, Bowling Green, Midfielder
Fifth-year Senior, Beavercreek, Ohio (Beavercreek)
Scored the Falcons’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Michigan State on Wednesday. The goal was the fourth of his career, and gives him a total of 12 career points to date. He had two of the team’s three shots on goal in that match, and leads the Falcons with seven total shot attempts and four shots on goal this season to date. Lemke has played all 290 minutes this fall.
Alfred Koroma, Akron, Forward
Freshman, Dallas, Texas (Southlake Carroll HS)
Koroma netted the second-half equalizer to earn Akron a 1-1 draw at No. 2 Creighton Friday night. It was the first career goal for the true freshman, who flicked home a header after receiving a cross from DeAndre Yedlin. Koroma was also a factor in the Zips' 2-1 win over SIU Edwardsville Sunday, logging 59 minutes in a starting role. For his efforts, Koroma was named to the Ameritas Classic All-Tournament Team.
Chris Walter, Hartwick, Defender
Sophomore, Snyder, NY, Nichols School
Walter was named to the All-Tournament Team of the Bradley University Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic in Peoria, IL this weekend. Walter scored the Hawks' second goal in the team's 2-2 tie with Mercer on Sunday. Walter ran onto a ball in the box from the right flank and one-touched it up and over Mercer's goalkeeper and into the far corner to put his side on top in the second half. It marked his second career tally for 'Wick.
