All 13 Mid-American Conference football teams will be in the national spotlight as they open the 2012 football season this week.
ESPN3 will broadcast five MAC games Thursday, August 30. The University of Akron led by Coach Terry Bowden will begin its 2012 campaign playing host to the University of Central Florida. The University of Massachusetts kicks off its first game as a MAC member at the University of Connecticut. The Eastern Michigan Eagles will face Ball State in Muncie as both schools open MAC league play. The Kent State Golden Flashes will host Towson at Dix Stadium on Comcast Sports Net Mid Atlantic. The final game Thursday night will be played in Mount Pleasant, as Southeastern Missouri State heads north to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas. All games Thursday evening will be played at 7pm (ET) on ESPN3.
On Saturday, the MAC has seven televised games. Starting at 12:00pm (ET), Miami will square off against the Ohio State Buckeyes on the Big Ten Network, while Ohio University heads to Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions on ESPN. Western Michigan and Buffalo will also play at noon (ET), as the Broncos battle the Illinois Fighting Illini on ESPNU and the Bulls head to Georgia to face the Bulldogs on ESPN3. At 3:30pm (ET), Bowling Green will play the Florida Gators on ESPN, while Northern Illinois and the Iowa Hawkeyes meet in the Windy City to battle at Soldier Field on ESPNU. Rounding out the MAC’s weekend of television coverage, Toledo will face the Arizona Wildcats in Tucson at 10:30pm (ET)/ 7:30pm (MT) on ESPNU.
