For the women, 34 student-athletes were named to the Academic All-MAC Team, including nine members of the 2012 Indoor All-MAC First Team.  Two first-teamers from Kent State, Ohio and Western Michigan received the academic honors.  From Kent State it was Kim Preston and Melinda Sawnor, from Ohio, Juli Accurso and Melissa Thompson, and from Western Michigan it was Andrea Arnold and Iris Campbell.  Other first team members to receive all-academic honors were, Valerie Fraizer (Wert) of Akron, Rebecca O’Brien of Buffalo, and Kate Wolanin of Eastern Michigan.

Six student-athletes from the women’s All-MAC Second Team were named to the Academic All-MAC Team.  Four Broncos were honored as Chiara Allen, Cara Cremeans, Aisha Hodge and Rachel Whitley collected the awards for Western Michigan.  Also, receiving the academic recognition were Meghan Powers of Eastern Michigan and Megan Vogelsong of Toledo.

On the men’s side, all 25 nominees were honored on the all-academic team, highlighted by 2012 indoor champions and All-MAC first-teamers,  Eric Hubbard of Akron, Josh Kettlewell of Central Michigan, and 2012’s Most Valuable Performer, Terefe Ejigu, of Eastern Michigan.
