CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)– Eastern Michigan University senior baseball player Brent Ohrman was selected the Mid-American Conference's Male Scholar Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday, April 4. The award marks the first weekly scholastic honor for the Adrian, Mich. native and first for a member of the baseball team this season.

A Sport Management major with a 3.69 GPA, Ohrman posted another strong week in five games from March 27-April 1, going 8-for-19 (.421) with a .500 OBP and a .632 slugging percentage. He registered a triple in games against Ohio State and Michigan to give him four on the season and earn him a share of the MAC lead in that category with teammate Bo Kinder.

Ohrman also stole his 11th base of the year Saturday, March 31, against the Bobcats and was a key factor in the Eagles' series opening win against OU Friday, March 30, when he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
