• Akron will play in its sixth-straight Mid-American Conference Tournament Title Game tonight, its first as the No. 1 overall seed. UA’s run of six-straight title games is the longest in MAC Tournament history and the second-longest active streak in the nation (Gonzaga, 15).  UA has won five-straight MAC Tournament games and have been on the winning side in 11 of its last 12 tourney contests. Akron has eight players averaging 6.0 or more points per game, including Zeke Marshall (10.2), Nikola Cvetinovic (10.1), Alex Abreu (9.4), Nick Harney (8.7), Brian Walsh (8.2), Quincy Diggs (8.1), Demetrius Treadwell (7.6) and Chauncey Gilliam (6.4). In the 33-year history of the MAC Tournament, the No. 1 seed has seen a lot of success.  Since 1980, the top overall seed has won 17-of-32 MAC Tournaments.  The last No. 1 seed to win came in 2008 (Kent State).  Coincidentally, that was the same season a team with at least a share of the regular season title last won the automatic NCAA Tournament bid by taking the tourney crown...Ohio used a first-half three-point barrage and put five players in double figures as it held off Buffalo on Friday evening, 77-74. The Bobcats set the school record with its 26th win of the season and advanced to the MAC Championship game for the second time in three years. D.J. Cooper finished with a team-high 18 points and nine assists to lead the Bobcats. Reggie Keely had 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds while T.J. Hall had 13 and 6 as both players came off the bench. Walter Offutt had 10 points and three assists and Ivo Baltic reached double figures, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.
