Toledo and Northern Illinois Quotes

Opening statement of University of Toledo Head Coach Tricia Cullop
“I have a lot of respect for Northern Illinois.  I really thought that they came out the gate really hungry.  Dishing and knocking down three’s obviously, didn’t settle well with us, and also to see our post scorers scoring in the low block.  That was something that didn’t happen in the previous two games.  At halftime we really talked about challenging our posts to do a better job.  But again much respect to Northern Illinois.”

Haylie Linn on the surprise of the scoring in the first half
“That was definitely something we talked about in the first half at halftime.  We liked the points we were scoring, but we felt like we have given them too many offensive rebounds, too many easy baskets. We definitely wanted to pick that up in the second half.”

Andola Dortch on starting off slow offensively but then picking up offensively into the game
“I was just having a slow start.  We just weren’t as focused as we needed to be, but we found what we needed to do.  We did it.”

Opening Statement of Northern Illinois Head Coach Kathi Bennett
“I congratulate Toledo they really picked it up in the second half.  I can’t say enough about my team.  Really proud of the effort and how they played, especially my seniors.  They had a great tournament run and great careers here.  I think that they have started the building process and laid a strong foundation.”

Courtney Shelton on the ball not going in the second half.
“You have to give credit to Toledo, they’re a great team and they came out tough in the second half, taking away the outside shot and some open shots just weren’t falling, it’s a credit to their defense.”

Kim Davis on the style of play
” It wasn’t the plan but going into the game we knew that our offense had gotten better since the last time we played them.  We were just working hard trying to win the game.”
