•The final week of the regular season begins on Sunday as Central Michigan hosts Northern Illinois in a televised game on Sports Time Ohio. Tipoff in McGuirk Arena is set for 2 p.m. The Huskies won the first meeting this season, 74-66, in DeKalb. Freshman point guard Austin McBroom is averaging in double figures with 10.4 points per game. He is looking to become just the fourth CMU freshman to average in double figures in the last 15 years. The three to accomplish the feat in that span are Trey Zeigler (16.3 ppg) last year, Giordan Watson (10.3) in 2005 and Mike Manciel (17.5) in 1999...NIU’s Tony Nixon enters Sunday’s contest having scored in double figures in three-straight games, Nixon made his first start of the season last time out at Eastern Michigan. Nixon recorded back-to-back 12-point performances against Western Michigan (Feb. 15) and SIU Edwardsville (Feb. 18), in both games tying his best scoring performance since scoring 16 points against Tennessee State on Nov. 20, 2009. Nixon followed his two 12-point games with 10 points at Eastern Michigan (Feb. 22). The junior from South Holland, Ill., is averaging 11.3 points per game in the last three, shooting 50 percent from the field (12-of-24) and 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from three.

•The Ohio Bobcats (22-6, 9-4) host the Akron Zips (20-8, 12-1) in a nationally televised contest on Sunday evening. The last two Mid-American Conference Champions and top two teams in this year’s standings meet at 8 p.m. in the final home game of the season for the Bobcats. The game will be televised on ESPNU. In the first meeting between the two teams this year, four Ohio players scored in double figures, but the same amount of Bobcats also fouled out in a 68-63 loss. Akron can earn its first Mid-American Conference regular season title and the No. 1 seed in next month’s MAC Tournament with a win over Ohio. The Zips have won 16 of their last 17 games against MAC opponents, including nine-straight. Akron has eight players averaging 6.3 or more points per game, including Zeke Marshall (10.5), Nikola Cvetinovic (10.1), Nick Harney (9.0), Alex Abreu (9.0), Quincy Diggs (8.9), Brian Walsh (8.0), Demetrius Treadwell (7.6) and Chauncey Gilliam (6.3)... Ohio has won its last eight home games and its last 13 against Mid-American Conference foes. A win today would make the Bobcats a perfect 8-0 at home this year against MAC foes. The last time Ohio went undefeated at home in league play was the 1984-85 season (9-0). The Bobcats have two players scoring in double figures, including D.J. Cooper (13.9 ppg) and Walter Offutt (12.4 ppg). Ivo Baltic is the team’s leading rebounder (5.1 rpg).
