• Two of the hottest teams in the Mid-American Conference square off in a key East Division showdown on Tuesday night at 7 pm when Kent State hosts Buffalo in the M.A.C. Center.  The Golden Flashes have won six straight while the Bulls bring an eight game winning streak into the contest that will be televised on SportsTime Ohio. Kent State returns to East Division play after sweeping through the West Division for the fourth consecutive year.  The Golden Flashes win streak against the West reached 30 games with a 76-55 win over Ball State on Saturday. Kent State leads the league averaging 74.4 points per game and shooting 48.3 percent from the field during MAC play... Buffalo recently completed its first cross divisional sweep in school history with a 59-57 win over Western Michigan last Saturday.  The Bulls stake claim to one of the best frontcourts in the nation with 6-7 forward Javon McCrea and 6-10 forward Mitchell Watt.  McCrea leads the team with 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds while Watt is averaging 14.9 points and 7.7 rebounds. Buffalo’s current four-game MAC road winning streak is its longest since joining the conference.

•Eastern Michigan will be out to avenge an earlier season loss to Central Michigan University when the Eagles travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. for  Valentine’s Day tilt, Feb. 14. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the McGuirk Center. EMU and CMU played Jan. 11 in Ypsilanti and the visiting Chippewas notched a 60-56 win. Eastern Michigan remains on top of the Mid-American Conference West Division with a 6-5 league record. As a team, the Eagles are in the top half of the Mid-American Conference in five categories heading into the CMU game Tuesday, Feb. 14. Eastern leads the league in scoring defense (59.6 ppg), fourth in the league in 3-point field goal percentage-defense (.311) and field goal percentage defense (.407), fifth in blocks (3.3) and sixth in free throw percentage (.689)... Sophomore Trey Zeigler is closing in on 1,000 career points. He enters the EMU game with 875 points and is averaging 15.4 points per game.  CMU Freshman point guard Austin McBroom is averaging in double figures with 10.3 points per game. He is looking to become just the fourth CMU freshman to average in double figures in the last 15 years. The three to accomplish the feat in that span are TZeigler (16.3 ppg) last year, Giordan Watson (10.3) in 2005 and Mike Manciel (17.5) in 1999.
