Cleveland, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference has announced today that the upcoming men's basketball game between Kent State and Ball State has been selected for the conference's national February basketball television package on ESPNU.
Kent State Head Coach Rob Senderoff and the Golden Flashes will host Ball State Head Coach Billy Taylor and the Cardinals in a MAC cross divisional match-up on Saturday, February 11th at 11 a.m. ET.
Kent State, the two-time defending MAC regular season champions heads into this weekend one game out of first in the MAC East Division Standings. The Golden Flashes have compiled a 12-5 overall record and a 2-2 mark in league play so far this season. Senior forward Justin Greene is the only active MAC player to have totaled over 1,300 points, 100 blocks and 100 steals in a career. Greene, who was named the MAC East Player of the Week on Monday, leads the league with 18.0 points per game during conference play this season.
Ball State (11-5) is tied for the top spot in the MAC this season with a 3-1 start to league play, including a 21-point victory Wednesday night at Central Michigan. The Cardinals boast the league’s best defense as they hold opponents to just 57.7 points per game and 37.4 percent shooting from the field. Ball State is led by senior forward Jarrod Jones who is second in the MAC in scoring at 16.9 points and rebounding at 8.4 boards per game.
Kent State travels to Akron this weekend for a rivalry matchup that will air on SportsTime Ohio/ESPN3/ESPN Full Court this Saturday at 6 p.m. Ball State travels to Northern Illinois to take on the Huskies at 8 p.m.
