Buffalo Zach Filzen (basketball) and Ohio Jeremy Johnson (wrestling)
Zach Filzen (guard, Sr., 3.228, communication) in UB's victories over Niagara and Youngstown State, Filzen averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Filzen scored 16 at Niagara, connecting on four three-pointers and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. He nailed three three-pointers at home against Youngstown State. For the season he has made 31 three-pointers for a 45.6 percentage.
Jeremy Johnson (heavyweight, So., 3.07, education: mild-moderate educational needs) continued his strong season for Ohio Wrestling on Saturday, picking up a 13-3 major decision over Brock Durfee of Appalachian State during Ohio’s 20-15 victory over the Mountaineers. The win was Johnson’s eight-consecutive victory, as he’s now posted a 11-1 mark during the 2011-12 season. Three of Johnson’s victories this season have come by way of pin and two have been major decisions.

Toledo: Rian Pearson (basketball, guard, So., 3.193, individualized program) averaged 18.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg in two games last week and posted a 51.7 FG% (15-of-29) and 60.0 3PTFG% (3-of-5). Pearson tallied 16 points and eight rebounds against Temple before notching 20 points and seven boards against Loyola (IL).
