That streak dated back to Nov. 26, 2005, when the Mountaineers lost 71-68 in overtime to LSU.
Randal Holt had 13 points, and Justin Greene added 12 in the Golden Flashes' first game of the season. WVU dropped to 1-1 overall.
West Virginia had four players in double figures. Kevin Jones grabbed 15; Jabarie Hinds had 13; Darryl "Truck" Bryant added 12; and Deniz Kilicli notched 11.
West Virginia led 41-36 on a Hinds steal and layup with 16:13 to go in the game. Kent State hustled back with a 15-3 run over 4 minutes, 4 seconds for a 51-44 advantage and never looked back.
Miami 72, Dayton 67 (OT)

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Julian Mavunga scored seven of his 17 points in overtime and Miami (Ohio) defeated Dayton 72-67 in its season opener on Tuesday night.
The RedHawks were 4 of 8 from the field in overtime, while the Flyers (1-1) missed all three of their 3-pointers after regulation.
Miami overcame 40.7 percent shooting for the game (24 of 59) by grabbing 11 of its 33 rebounds on the offensive glass. Mavunga led the RedHawks on the boards with 11 rebounds. Bill Edwards also had a double-double for Miami with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman Brian Sullivan scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and Josh Sewell added 10 points for Miami, which defeated Dayton for the first time in six meetings.
Paul Williams scored 20 points and Kevin Dillard added 11 for Dayton, which had the final possession of regulation, but missed a shot from half court.
Ohio 86, Lamar 78 (OT)

ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Men’s Basketball pulled off an 85-78 overtime win over the Lamar Cardinals after a nail-biting back-and-forth battle at home in the Convocation Center Tuesday night.
After an impressive overtime showing, junior D.J. Cooper finished the game with 21 points for the Bobcats as well as five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Freshman Stevie Taylor (Gahanna, Ohio) posted 14 points and made three of five attempts behind the arc. Junior Ivo Baltic (Kansas City, Mo.) added 14 more and tied junior Walter Offutt (Indianapolis, Ind.) for most rebounds with nine. Offutt also added 13 points.
Ohio sophomore Jon Smith (Columbus, Ohio) put the first points on the board with back-to-back free throws and Cooper kept it going with a jump shot with 18:17 on the clock. The Bobcats then went on a 7-0 run that ended with a free throw by Lamar. This sparked a 7-0 run by the Cardinals to put them in the lead 12-11 with 11:45 left in the half.
Following the early lead, the teams traded leads four times throughout the first half with Ohio going into the locker room on top 34-29.
Ohio opened up the second half with a layup from Baltic to make the score 36-29. The Bobcats fought hard to keep the Cardinals at bay throughout the second half, but Lamar wouldn’t go down without a fight. With nine personal fouls and 7:13 left on the clock, the Cardinals sent the Bobcats to the line multiple times to help Ohio maintain a narrow lead.
Following back-to-back free throws by Lamar, the Cardinals took the lead 62-60 with six minutes left to play. A free throw by Baltic and a layup by the Cardinals put Lamar up 64-61 with just over five minutes to play. That was when Cooper sunk a three-pointer to tie the game at 64 apiece and bring the momentum back to the Green and White. The teams traded points throughout the final minutes of regulation and settled for overtime with the scores deadlocked at 71.
Following a missed jump shot in the last second of regulation, Cooper set the pace in overtime with a three-point shot and paved the way to a ten-point advantage over the Cardinals. Lamar’s Anthony Miles hit a three as the buzzer sounded, ultimately cutting the difference to seven at 85-78.
While the Bobcats averaged 37.8 percent shooting, they were able to make 40 percent behind the arc and had an impressive showing from the foul line. Four players shot 100 percent at the line: Offutt (7-7), Smith (2-2), Keely (2-2) and Taylor (1-1). Cooper made seven of eight attempts to help the team average to a lofty 80.8 percent.
With the win, the Bobcats also increase their overtime win percentage to .586 (58-41) overall and .643 (27-15) at home.
Ohio will battle the Arkansas State Red Wolves at home in the Convocation Center on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m.
Charlotte 77, Central Michigan 75 (2OT)

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - Chris Braswell scored 22 points, including four in the second overtime, to lead Charlotte to a 77-75 victory against Central Michigan on Tuesday night.
Braswell, who had 10 rebounds, was one of three players to post a double-double for the 49ers (2-0). Javarris Barnett had 17 points and 12 rebounds and DeMario Mayfield 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Charlotte scored five of its seven points in the second overtime on free throws. Braswell had the only field goal.
Trey Zeigler had 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Chippewas (1-1), but made just 4 of 11 free-throw attempts and missed three of four tries from the line in the final 30 seconds of regulation.
Zach Saylor tied the score at 70-all for Central Michigan on a jumper with two seconds left in the first OT.
Derek Jackson had 18 points and Austin McBroom 15 for the Chippewas.
Both meetings between the schools have gone beyond regulation. In the first round of the 1977 NCAA tournament, Cedric Maxwell and Charlotte dispatched Central Michigan 91-86 in OT en route to the Final Four.
Texas Southern 66, Eastern Michigan 49

HOUSTON (AP) - Lawrence Johnson-Danner scored 20 points, including six 3-pointers, and Texas Southern used a blistering pace from long range Tuesday night to beat Eastern Michigan 66-49.
Omar Strong scored all of his 15 points from long range, hitting 5 of 7 from behind the arc. The Tigers were 13 for 22 (59 percent) from 3-point land and 25 of 39 overall, or 64 percent. Fred Sturdivant added 11 points for Texas Southern (1-1).
Darrell Lampley led Eastern Michigan (1-1) with 15 points, also all from 3-point range as he was 5 for 10 from there.
