Philadelphia, Pa. -- Northern Illinois senior quarterback Chandler Harnish was named to the 2011 Maxwell Award Watch List, given annually to America's outstanding college football player.
Last year Harnish led the Huskies to an 11-3 overall record, including an 8-0 mark in conference play to win the MAC West Division, and a 40-17 win over Fresno State in the 2010 uDrove Humanitarian Bowl.
Harnish started 13 games and was 189-of-292 passing for 2,530 yards and 21 touchdowns. Harnish ranked 16th in the nation with a 156.1 passing efficiency rating as the Huskies won a school-best 11 games during the 2010 campaign.
The Maxwell Football Club today announced its watch lists for the 75th annual Maxwell Award. The Maxwell Award has been given to America's outstanding collegiate football player since 1937 and is named in honor of sportswriter Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced October 31st and the three finalists will be unveiled November 21st. The winner of the 2011 Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show held on December 8th. The formal presentation of these awards will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Harrah's Entertainment Atlantic City on March 2nd 2012.
