Jeff Bacon Promoted To Associate Commissioner

Cleveland, Ohio - Mid-American Conference Commissioner Dr. Jon A. Steinbrecher has announced the promotion of Jeff Bacon to Associate Commissioner for Championships & Sport Programs.

A native of Solon, Ohio, Bacon will move to his new position of Associate Commissioner for Championships & Sport Programs after holding the position of Assistant Commissioner for Championships & Sport Programs for the past two seasons. He is in charge of the oversight and development of 20 of the 23 Mid-American Conference sponsored sports and championships. Bacon started with the MAC as a full-time employee in 2007 and held the title of Director of Compliance his first two years at the league office.

"Jeff has played a vital role in the restructuring of our championships and sports programs," said Steinbrecher. "In addition, he has assumed a key role in the implementation of the Conference's strategic plan. His promotion is well-earned and I am pleased he is a member of our senior staff."

Bacon is a 2003 graduate of Kent State University with a B.A. in criminal justice. He earned a J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law in 2006 and is a member of the Ohio Bar. Bacon served as an intern in the MAC compliance department in 2005 and at Akron, also in compliance, in 2005-06. He served as an associate with Dan Morell & Associates, Co., L.P.A. in Independence, Ohio, prior to joining the MAC.
