MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

Troy Esentan, Eastern Michigan - Sophomore, North Little Rock, Ark. (Central High School)

Sophomore Troy Esentan notched a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 9:33.78, setting a season-best mark and resetting the fastest time in the MAC this season. He would also coast to a win in the 500-yard free, stopping the clock at 4:39.11, four seconds better than the next closest finisher. His time of 4:30.35 is still the fastest time in the event for the MAC this year. The sophomore added a second place finish in the 400 IM as well, finishing less than 2.5 seconds behind teammate Jacob Hanson. His efforts helped Eastern to yet another unbeaten regular season in MAC dual meets and pushed the teams MAC dual meet win streak to a record 53 consecutive victories.

Matt Schwippert, Buffalo - Freshman, East Aurora, N.Y. (Iroquois High School)

Freshman Matt Schwippert won two events in Buffalo's win over St. Bonaventure, including the 200 -yard IM, in a season-best 1:56.02 and the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.03), helping the Bulls to their fifth straight win.
