MAC Field Hockey Wraps Up the Season With Naming of Academic Team

CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced its 2010 Field Hockey Academic All-MAC team Wednesday, as voted on by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. A total of 11 student-athletes were named to the team.

Devanny Kuhn of Ball State, Mary Hull of Miami and Katie George and Nicole Leach of Kent State were all honored for the second year in a row after being named to the 2009 team. Joining Kuhn from the Cardinals squad was teammate Gretchen Lulow while Kent State had two additional honorees in Carla Johl and Rachel Miller.

Rounding out this year's team are Kim Sihota of Central Michigan, Steph Anderson of Missouri State and Courtney Seiders and Cathryn Altdoerffer of Ohio.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
