Complete Results (Through Day Two)

DEKALB, Illinois - With massive storms moving in after 1 pm and events not resuming for over six hours, it was both a short day and a long day at the Northern Illinois Track & Field Complex. When it was all said and done, just three individual champions were crowned, paving the way for a hectic Saturday with both the Akron men and Kent State women holding onto their leads for a second straight day.

The day began bright and sunny and it was Rob Golabek of Buffalo who delivered what has become a routine performance for him, winning the men's shot put for a second straight year and bettering his effort of a year ago by over five feet with a toss of 62-11.25 (19.18m).

In the combined events, Diana Dumitrescu of Kent State won a third consecutive heptathlon title in just her junior season with 5,399 points, over 500 points clear of the field. And completing their final events in almost-total darkness, Bjorn Johansson of Akron took home the decathlon with 7,413 points. Miami teammates Michael McCarty and Jordan Goffena finished second and third, respectively.

Now with a revised schedule for Saturday, action at Northern Illinois will get underway at 8 am with men's and women's long jump. A complete rundown of tomorrow's timeline is available on the Tournament Central page.
