MAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Angelina Jogasuria, Akron - Freshman, Serpong, Indonesia

Freshman Angelina Jogasuria claimed the title at Flight 2 singles and also teamed with junior Anya Baronayte to win the Flight 2 doubles bracket at the Florida Gulf Coast Eagle Invitational on Jan. 16-18 in Fort Myers, Fla. Jogasuria closed out the first week of the season with a win at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles (also with Baronayte) in the Zips' 6-1 win at Michigan State on Jan. 22 - helping Akron to a 1-0 start to its dual season and its first-ever victory over a Big Ten opponent. Jogasuria finished the initial week of the spring season with an 8-0 record (4-0 singles, 4-0 doubles) and improved her season record in singles to 16-5 and 15-3 in doubles.

Katia Babina, Bowling Green - Senior, Glenview, Ill. (Glenbrook South High School)

Senior Katia Babina went 3-1 as Bowling Green swept a pair of dual matches on the road last weekend.  Babina was 2-0 at the #2 singles flight and 1-1 at #2 doubles as Bowling Green downed Cincinnati, 5-2, and Xavier, 4-3.  Babina picked up a straight-sets win over Cincinnati's Lindsey Lonergan, a transfer from Michigan State, on Saturday, winning by a 7-5, 6-3 result.  She teamed with freshman Jade Johnson for an 8-2 doubles win vs. the Bearcats, however the duo dropped their match against Xavier.  Babina rebounded with a convincing singles win over Tifanie Treece, losing just one game (6-0, 6-1).  For the year, Babina is 8-6 in singles and 8-4 in doubles play and she ranks 18th in school history with 54 singles wins, and is now 16th on the Bowling Green doubles list, with 57 victories and her combined career total of 111 victories placed her 18th on that chart.

Denise Harijanto, Buffalo - Senior, Jakarta, Indonesia

Senior Denise Harijanto played nearly flawless in Buffalo's 5-2 win over St. John's on Saturday afternoon.  Playing at first singles, Harijanto easily dispatched the Red Storm's top player Ira Aleksova, 6-0, 6-0.  Harijanto also played first doubles where she combined with Buffalo's Adi Petrova to defeat the Red Storm's top doubles team, 8-1.  Harijanto is coming off a strong fall where she played singles and doubles at both the ITA Regional and the ITA All-America Championships at UCLA.

Martina Wodzinski, Toledo - Senior, Wayne, Ill.

Senior Martina Wodzinski posted a 2-2 record in singles and doubles action last week.  Wodzinski teamed with classmate Maha Guirguis to take an 8-4 win at first doubles against IPFW, then claimed a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 win at first singles against the Mastodons in Toledo's 6-1 win. Wodzinski suffered a narrow defeat at first singles to Purdue's Michelle Sammons, falling 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) to the all-Big Ten performer.

Jill Pastunink, Western Michigan - Freshman, Zeeland, Mich.  (Zeeland West High School)

Freshman Jill Pastunink went 4-0 for the Broncos in a Saturday doubleheader against Cleveland State and Detroit. Pastunink teamed with Emily Dudzik to go undefeated at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 win over the Vikings and 8-4 over the Titans. She won at No. 4 singles against Cleveland State 6-1, 6-4 and won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 against the Titans. Dudzik is 4-1 at No. 1 doubles this season and 4-1 in singles.
