In a tournament that included five of Golfweek’s preseason top-10 teams, and 11 ranked in the top 30, Hughes tied for 12th overall. The Kent State sophomore opened with a 76, then gained 15 places on the leaderboard with a second round 72. He would finish out the event on Monday with a 74 to end with a six-over 222 (76-72-74). For the 54-holes he tied for fifth in the field with 28 pars while also making seven birdies. The T-12th showing was Hughes' second top 20 in as many events this season. He currently leads KSU with a 73.17 scoring average.

In just his second event as an Akron Zip, junior transfer Lucas Murray finished first for UA and in a tie for 21st overall at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate. Carding a 1-over 72 in the first round, Murray posted a 1-under in the second round to finish at par (142).

Lemons enjoyed his best performance this season, finishing at even-par 216 (72-74-70) to guide the Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team to a sixth place finish at the 2009 Wolverine at Radrick Farms Sunday, Sept. 27. Eastern Michigan shot a final-round 288 to finish at five-over 869 (291-290-288). Host Michigan won the event with a final score of 24-under (277-278-285=840); 14th-ranked Arkansas finished second at 17-under (278-288-281=847), while Louisville finished third at eight-under (293-285-278=856). The Razorbacks’ Jamie Marshall earned individual medalist honors after shooting a 10-under 206. Wolverine teammates Matt Thompson and Lion Kim tied for second at nine-under 207. Lemon's finished the weekend with a two-under 70 during Sunday’s final round to finish 16. The Portage, Mich., native, equaled his career-low for a 54-hole tournament when he cared a 216 at last year's Wolverine Invitational, Sept. 20-21, 2008.
