BATON ROUGE, La. ? Kent State finished 6th with a team score of 193.700 while freshman Andrea de la Garza of Central Michigan finished 10th in the all-around at the NCAA Central Regional Meet at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center at Louisiana State Saturday night.

Freshmen Christina Lenny and Christine Abou-Mitri turned in the best performances of the night for Kent State on vault. Lenny finished fourth overall with a score of 9.900 while Abou-Mitri received a season-high mark of 9.850 and finished 12th.

Sophomore Breanne Guy of Bowling Green and de la Garza both received a mark of 9.825 on vault while Central Michigan sophomore Katie Simon completed a bars routine of 9.825.

Receiving scores of 9.800 were Kent State senior Amy Presan on beam and Simon on vault.

Senior Jolene Worley of Eastern Michigan finished 12th in the all-around with a combined score of 38.725. Senior Courtney Lesson of Western Michigan turned in her best performance of the night on vault with a judges score of 9.775.

NORMAN, Okla. ? Northern Illinois gymnasts Leah Johnson and Holly Reichard closed out the 2008 Huskie gymnastics season at the NCAA South Central Regional in Norman, Okla. Saturday where they each took part in the all-around competition.

Johnson, who started on vault and rotated with the team from Boise State, opened well, scoring a 9.725 on both the vault and the bars to place tied for 26th and tied for 24th, respectively, on those events. But the junior from Glenview, Ill. faltered on the balance beam and came away with an 8.900 on that event to spoil her bid for a spot at the NCAA Championships.

She rebounded on the floor exercise with her best score of the night, a 9.750, to finish tied for 23rd on that event.  Her all-around total of 38.100 was good for 15th place in the regional.
