MAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Christine Chiricosta, Bowling Green - Junior, Avon Lake, Ohio (Avon Lake High School)
Junior Christine Chiricosta was a perfect 4-0 as the Falcons won a pair of matches last week as Bowling Green downed South Dakota, 7-0, before beating Temple by a 5-2 final on a trip to Orlando, Fla. Chiricosta teamed with freshman Maddy Eccleston for an 8-0 win at the top doubles flight vs. South Dakota and she downed USD's Shadi Soleymani by identical 6-2 scores in her match at the number-one singles flight. Against Temple, Chiricosta teamed with Eccleston for an 8-3 doubles victory, then downed Temple's Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova at the top singles flight to help clinch the Bowling Green win. This year Chiricosta is 16-5 in singles, including a 9-3 mark in dual matches and in doubles, she has teamed with Eccleston for a 9-3 record in duals and a 13-5 overall ledger. Chiricosta leads the Falcons in singles wins (16) and is tied for the lead in overall victories and is now 17th in Bowling Green history in singles victories with 58. Chiricosta also is 17th on the doubles list (57), and has moved into 19th on the combined career wins list and has a career record of 115-42.
