Kevin Smith, Buffalo-Junior, Mexico, N.Y. (Mexico High School)

Buffalo junior Kevin Smith had a terrific outing Sunday, starting the day with four straight wins before falling in the championship match at 133 pounds at the Penn State Open. The Mexico, NY native took down wrestlers from Navy, Bloomsburg, Maryland and North Carolina en route to his runner-up finish. Smith's third win of the day gave him 70 for his career and he now has 13 wins of the season.

Ben Bennett, Central Michigan-Sophomore, Rockford, Mich. (Rockford High School)

Central Michigan sophomore Ben Bennett finished runner-up in the 174-pound bracket at the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas last weekend. Bennett, the No. 3 seed, won four straight matches to advance to the finals of his second tournament this season (also was runner-up at Body Bar Invitational). Bennett is 10-3 on the season, with all three losses coming to No. 1-ranked Lewnes, the 2010 national runner-up.

Bryan Deutsch, Northern Illinois-Senior, Columbia City, Ind. (Columbia City High School)

Northern Illinois senior Bryan Deutsch posted a 10-5 victory over No. 13 David Cheza of Michigan State last Friday in Northern Illinois University's annual Showcase Meet. Deutsch, who is now ranked 15th in the nation at 157, jumped out to a 6-0 first period lead with a takedown and two two-point near falls.  An escape, takedown and reversal in the third period gave Deutsch a 9-5 advantage.

Erik Schuth, Ohio-Senior, Spencerport, N.Y. (Brockport High School)

Ohio senior Erik Schuth defeated Jon Hartley of Appalachian State by fall. The Bobcats won the meet 26-21.
