Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: November 8-14

Northern Illinois Kristin Hoffman (volleyball)
Kristin Hoffman (Jr., 3.95, history) captained the Huskie offensive attack with 89 assists (11.12/set) as NIU secured a first round bye in the Mid-American Conference Tournament for the second straight season. The junior setter also netted 18 digs (2.25/set), three blocks, three kills and ranked second on the team with three aces during the home weekend. In a sweep of Eastern Michigan on Friday (Nov. 12), she dished out 44 assists while achieving eight digs, one kill and one ace. Against Central Michigan on Saturday (Nov. 13), Hoffman totaled 45 assists and 10 digs for her seventh double-double. She also racked up three blocks, two kills and two aces. The two 40-plus assist matches were Hoffman's 15th and 16th of the season.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
