MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week
Matt Zavislak, Eastern Michigan
Junior, Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern)
Zavislak took first place in five different events over the weekend to help the Eagles capture wins against both Xavier University and Miami University. Against Xavier, the junior was the first to finish the 50 free in 21.24, the eighth best time in the Mid-American Conference. He also anchored the winning 200 Medley Relay that finished in 1:32.53. Against Miami, he took first in the 100 and 200 freestyle events. He completed the 100 in 46.32, while his 200 time of 1:42.06 is fifth best in the conference. Zavislak again helped the 200 Medley Relay to a 1:32.20, first place finish to represent the third best time in the MAC.

In his last home meets of his UE career, senior Andy Balczo won three of his four events and went undefeated in Saturday's Senior Day meet against Saint Louis. On Friday, Balczo finished with a top score of 260.63 on the 1-meter. WIth a second place score of 264.3 on the 3-meter, Balczo was just 1.44 points away from sweeping the diving events for the day. During Saturday's Senior Day meet against Saint Louis, Balczo went undefeated on the boards, winning the 3-meter with a score of 305.4 and the 1-meter with a score of 287.25.

Jared Roberts, Missouri State

The Bears wrapped up their conference season this weekend, but Jared Roberts was just beginning to shine. Against conference foe Evansville, Roberts swam only one event, the 1000-yard freestyle. In the event, he turned in a time of 9:52.09, earning first in the event by 14 full seconds. The nearest Evansville competitor was 44 seconds behind Roberts. He also helped the Bears to a win over Eastern Illinois with a 4:47.69 in the 500-yard freestyle. Roberts is currently fifth in the conference in the 1000-yard freestyle and seventh in the mile.

Csaba Gercsak, Southern Illinois
Sophomore, Budapest, Hungary (Csik Ferenc Gimnazium)
In SIU's hard-fought loss to Western Kentucky last weekend, Gercsak finished first in the 1000 free (9:37.20), second in the 500 free (4:40.75) and fourth in the 200 IM (1:58.17).
