Beres Breaks MAC Diving Record

James Beres, Miami

Beres swept the Miami invitational, winning from both the one- and three-meter boards. On the one-meter, he beat his closest competitor by over 60 points with a 388.30, setting new MAC, pool and Miami records. He followed that up with a dominant performance on the three-meter, posting a score of 423.45, setting new records for the MAC, Miami and the Miami Invitational. Both scores also qualified him for the NCAA Zone Championships at the end of the season.

Weber took home seventh in the 100 backstroke (53.08), ninth in the 200 IM (1:58.25) and 12th in the 200 backstroke (1:58.25) . . . He was also a member of the fifth-place 400 medley relay (3:31.29), sixth-place 400 freestyle relay (3:09.73), sixth-place 200 medley relay (1:35.82) and eighth-place 200 free relay (1:28.86).

Justin Griggs, Eastern Michigan

Justin Griggs posted three top conference times and two first place finishes en route to the Eagles 13th consecutive victory at the EMU Invitational this past weekend. Griggs was first to touch the wall in the 100 freestyle event with a conference top mark of 45.29. In the 100 backstroke, Griggs led with MAC with a 50.13 finish and also clinched a conference-best performance in the 100 butterfly after taking first in 49.56.
