Buffalo's Conner Vander Zalm Named MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week

Men’s Swimmer of the Week:

 

Connor Vander Zalm

Vander Zalm won an individual race and was part of a winning relay as the Bulls opened the season with a 137-106 victory at Ball State. In his collegiate debut, Vander Zalm won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:48.16 and anchored the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:12.42. He also placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:58.18. It was UB's first win over Ball State since the 1999-2000 season and broke a string of six losses in season-openers.

Wohl led the Eagles to a 161-69 victory over Ohio. The two-time MAC Swimmer of the Year won the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly events. Wohl’s 1:41.06 time in the 200 freestyle was nearly six second ahead of the second place finisher. The win marks the 44th straight MAC regular season dual meet victory for EMU.

 

Luke Herlehy

Ohio

Jr. ? (Batavia, Ill. /Marmion Academy)

 

Herlehy finished the Bobcats' meet versus EMU with a victory in the 500 free, a third in the 200 free. Both times 4:45.74/500 Free and 1:47.90/200 Free were season bests for the 2006 2nd Team All-MAC selection. Luke also contributed to a fifth place finish in the 800 Free Relay.
